A Fly on the WallBook Five: The Guide, Not the Boss

I hovered near math class, right over a map,When I heard a loud grumble — a stomp and a snap.A student was fuming, their fists balled up tight—“All they do is boss me! That can’t be right.”

I tilted my wings and flew in a bit near,Because what I had heard was something I hear. From classroom to hallway, that feeling is loud—“I don’t need a teacher!” gets lost in the crowd.

But let me explain from my fly-point of view,Because I see things that might be brand new. That teacher you’re mad at for saying, “Sit still,”Is the same one who’s trying to help you build skill.

They're not just in charge to control what you do—They’re opening doors that could change life for you. They ask you to listen not to ruin your day,But to teach you the words that help you have say.

The books that they hand you? They hold secret keysTo lands full of questions, and wide-open seas. The numbers they show you, the stories they share,They’re building a stairway to get anywhere.

They give you the tools—some quiet, some loud—To think for yourself, to stand out in a crowd. It may not feel easy, it might even sting,But inside the challenge is a powerful thing.

When teachers correct you, they’re not being mean. They’re shaping the strong from the sparks they have seen. You’re not being punished for getting it wrong—You’re being invited to rise and grow strong.

With kindness. With smarts. With dreams in your heart. That’s where your courage and knowledge can start.

So next time a teacher says, “Try that again,”Know they’re not stopping you—they’re helping you begin. They see your future, though it’s still far away…And they want to help you build it today.

I’ll keep flying past, just a dot on the wall,

Watching kids grow up strong, steady, and tall.

You’re not being bossed—you’re being built brave.

Your teacher’s a guide on the path that you pave.
